The capital of the region is Turin. Visitors to the city should visit the Royal Armoury, one of the richest in Europe. The Egyptian Museum is the most significant in the world outside of Cairo.

If in Piedmont in October look out for "Alba Palio degli Asini" The race of the Donkey!! It is based on the ancient rivalry between the two cities of Piedmont and Turin. September is where you will find the city of Asto filled with locals dressed in medieval costume for The "Palio of Asti" is Italy's most famous horse race.

Piedmont is the home of the Porcini mushroom, white truffles and Grissino breadsticks.  From a wine perspective a visit would be incomplete without sampling Moscato and the well known Asti Spumante.
